Mark Mercier

Director of Music Ministries

Mark is the organist and choir director and oversees the music programs of the Church. His ministry enhances the quality of the choral and instrumental programs, so that the spirit of our congregation will be elevated by the power of sacred music. Mark is a native of South Portland, ME, comes from a musical family, and learned how to improvise at the piano at the age of 7. After several years of piano lessons, he was “volunteered” to be the organist at a weekly youth service at his local Methodist Church. Through this he developed an interest in the organ, and attended Hartt College of Music as a Liturgical Music Major. At this time he also became Organist/Choir Director at St. James’ Episcopal Church in Hartford, and remained there for some 30 years. While doing this, he became the keyboard player for the regional rock band “Max Creek”, and has continued to do this for the past 42 years until the present. Additionally, after graduating, he became the Director of Music at Laurelton Hall in Milford, CT, where he taught high school music for five years.  He was also a founding member of the Collinsville Music Coalition in Collinsville, Ct, and was an active part of the artist’s community there until his move to Windsor, CT.

Mark lives with his wife, Lori, his two sons: Matthew, 21, Jonathon, 13, and a daughter, Emma, 8. He tries to foster a love of music of all kinds in all his children.
